**** Deadline Change! ***

Okay, guys and gals. Hurricane Ike means we get out of school a little early Friday (Sept. 12). I'm pushing back the deadline on the project. You will have time on Monday / Tuesday to work on the project -- come prepared to work. But your presentations are later -- you do NOT have to dress up for class on Monday / Tuesday.

Here are the new deadlines:

Periods 1, 3, and 4 (A day geometry students): Friday, Sept. 19.
Periods 6 and 7 (B day geometry students): Monday, Sept. 22.

What's due, you ask? Your design, your budget, and a PowerPoint presentation:

1. Your final mural design. That's a geogebra file. You'll need to include all required geometric transformations, and your 2-D perspective object.
2. Your budget. That can be in Word, Excel, Notepad, or e-mail. You'll need to write down how much paint (in square feet) you'll need in each color, and specify which shapes are what areas. Example: "We'll need 388 sq. feet of green, because we have three hexagons that are each 116 sq. feet, and one triangle that's 40 sq. feet." You'll also need to say how many accent stones to use -- that's the perimeter of your 2-D perspective object, in cm. Remember that 1 foot = 12 inches, and 1 inch = 2.54 cm.
3. Your presentation. This will be 5-7 minutes long, so it should be about 5 slides in PowerPoint. It should include a picture of your design, and you should talk about how you included transformations, what some of the areas of shapes are and how you got them, etc. Also be prepared to answer questions.

The rubrics are available online -- click the "Math Mural Project Files" link at the top right corner of this blog.
