General Info: Since PeBL is still having some problems, I've started this blog to help us keep track of all the important files, assignments and dates for your Math Mural project. There's a link over there on the right to the files -- there you'll find the entry document, the follow-up email that describes the design elements you need to include, a calendar that tells you when everything is due, grading rubrics, and more. Check this block and that file drop site often for updates.
To Do Today (Sept. 3 /4):
(1) Go to the file drop site and download the file called "transformations.doc." In your group, follow the instructions in the document, filling in all the yellow highlighted blanks (including the period and group number!). Save it to your local desktop with a new filename: transformations_per[]gr[].doc, filling in the current period and your group number. For example, in period 2, group 3 would save to "transformations_per2gr3.doc." Raise your hand when this is done, and I will come save it to my USB drive. Once I have it, clear it off the desktop.
(2) As a class, we will go over the calendar for the rest of the project and the grading rubric for the preliminary design plan.
(3) Work in your groups to complete your preliminary design plan. Your design plan should have two parts: a written description and a graphic file, BOTH DUE AT THE END OF CLASS TODAY.
The graphic file should be created using a program called geogebra. Go to www.geogebra.org. Click on "Start Geogebra" and then on "GeoGebra WebStart," and follow the directions (say "yes" or "ok" to all questions) until geogebra opens up. Lay out your design in this program. Note that you can set the limits of the x and y axis (and your mural is 40 wide by 25 high.) Save your file to your desktop as: design_per[]gr[]. Raise your hand when this is done and I will come save it to my USB drive. Once I have it, clear it off the desktop.
Email the written description to me at christina.holland@akinsnths.austinisd.org. Include the period and your group number in the subject line.
